Position
The Parking Event Staff members support event parking operations at HPA’s municipal parking garage (MAT Garage) in downtown Hartford. This customer-facing role is responsible for processing parking payments, assisting customers, and helping maintain safe, orderly vehicle flow during event hours.

This is a part-time hourly position. Hours are scheduled as needed based on event operations.

Responsibilities
Specific duties include the following:
- Greet and educate customers as they enter and exit the parking facility and assets, provide professional customer service, offer direction and guide them to spaces.
- Process parking payments (cash and mobile credit card terminal, as applicable) and provide receipts/instructions as needed.
- Direct vehicles to available parking areas/spaces.
- Help maintain safe, efficient inbound and outbound traffic flow and support access/egress during peak times.
- Answer customer questions regarding parking rates, event locations, and facility policies.
- Resolve minor customer issues promptly and escalate complex concerns to supervisory staff as needed.
- Maintain accurate records of transactions, cash handling, and event/day reports.
- Monitor the facilities and assets for safety/security concerns; report suspicious activity, customer safety issues, and equipment malfunctions.
- Follow all HPA policies, procedures, cash-handling standards, and safety guidelines.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Complete ad hoc assignments given by direct report and or Executive Director.
- Maintains a professional appearance, practices good personal hygiene, and demonstrates courteous, respectful behavior when interacting with the public and coworkers.

Qualifications
Required
- High school diploma, GED, must be 18 years old upon start.
- Ability to provide friendly, professional customer service in a fast-paced environment.
- Basic math skills and ability to handle cash accurately and responsibly.
- Clear verbal communication skills and ability to follow instructions and safety procedures.
- Ability to stand or sit for extended periods and work in a garage environment; ability to work outdoors in varying weather as needed.
- Punctual, reliable attendance; availability for evenings, weekends, and holidays based on event schedules.
Preferred
- Previous experience in cashiering, customer service, or parking operations.
- Experience using point-of-sale systems or mobile card payment terminals.
- Team-oriented approach and comfort working independently during assigned shifts.
